The name 'Chamomile' comes from the Greek word meaning 'ground apple', reminding us of the faint sweet scent of apples and straw. It is commonly accepted as the best smelling of the Chamomiles. Chamomile has long been appreciated in Europe for its soothing qualities and it is used in natural therapies for anxiety, stress and promoting calm prior to sleep. Its soft, relaxing scent is especially gentle and nurturing for children and babies. The herb also contains azulene which is widely known for its powerful anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effect. It is this azulene that gives this oil a pale bluish-green color.
